1. Is Do Not Delay! a charity?
- Yes,
Do Not Delay! (Breast Cancer Prevention Programme) is a charity founded
by Public Institution Azzara. Charity was based and registered in
Lithuania in 1997.
2. Why don’t you have a charity
registration number in the UK?
- Do Not Delay! is
based and registered in Lithuania and helps Lithuanian women. A charity
can register in the UK when most of Trustees are residents in the UK,
charity’s accounts are held in the UK, charity’s registered office is
located in the UK. As most of trustees of the charity are residents in
Lithuania, accountants are held in Lithuania and the registered office
is located in Lithuania, Do Not Delay! is a Lithuanian charity.
Although, currently we are seeking to establish a charity in the UK.
It’s still a long way to go and a lot of things need to be done, but we
are positive to reach this goal. At the moment we are looking for
Trustees for our UK charitable organization, people who would like to
support our initiative, to take part in charity meetings and share
ideas. For more information please visit web site http://www.trusteecenter.org/
3.
Why UK people should donate to a charity in Lithuania?
Lithuanian
women have the highest rate of death from breast cancer in Europe and
the Do Not Delay! project is working to improve screening to
catch the disease earlier. However donating is not compulsory and every
citizen can chose who he/she wishes to support: a cancer charity in
Lithuania, a heart charity in England or Northern Ireland or a children
charity in Africa.
4. What does your charity do? How
does Do Not Delay! operate?
Do Not Delay!
runs the Pink Bus, a mobile breast cancer screening unit that travels
all over Lithuania to take the important message about regular breast
screening to all the women it can reach. The Do Not Delay! team
includes professional doctors – specialists of their field who face
breast cancer cases on a daily basis. Do Not Delay! also
organizes seminars for women there they are taught how to take care of
their help and how to perform breast screening and gives advice on the
prevention of breast cancer. In some cases of the disease Do not
Delay! project can help women by providing them with free breast
cancer surgeries.
