Cancer support charity to cut visits after funding falls
A London cancer charity is faced with axing vital home visits for
patients because of a funding crisis. A drop in income from trusts and
donors means the Paul D'Auria Cancer Support Centre, based next to
Clapham Junction station, will have to cut services unless it can
raise £50,000. © 2010 ES London Limited

treatment guarantees
Acting Labour leader Harriet Harman accused

Health secretary Andrew Lansley promises opportunities for voluntary

Younger Breast Cancer Patients Most Likely To Discontinue Treatment
Half of breast cancer patients stop taking key
medications ahead of schedule, a decision that can increase their risk
of relapse and death, a new study shows.
The finding underscores the importance of working
with patients to reduce side effects, especially at a time when
patients are increasingly responsible for their own care, says Jennifer
Obel, an
American Society of Clinical Oncology breast cancer expert. Fifty cancer
drugs are now available as pills that can be taken at home.

drugs called aromatase inhibitors (AI) that block the synthesis of
estrogen are used by mainstream medical doctors to attempt to slow the
growth of estrogen sensitive breast tumors.
